Historic Spot Worth the Stop

This is a small circular park at the end of the street near the Provincetown Inn. There is a beautiful marker at the spot the pilgrims came ashore.

Not much to see, but it does give you a pause to think about the travelling pilgrims and the struggles they must have had.

This is a small memorial to commemorate the first landing of the Pilgrims in November 11, 1620. It is worth seeing as a remembrance of American History.

We drove to the sign and went through a lovely neighborhood with beautiful homes and gardens. The sign is on a circle and is easy to miss. Nothing much around it but some trees and a great view of the water. If you are a history buff, it is worth seeing.

I'm assuming the shoreline has changed slightly over the past 400 years as the simple plaque commemorating the historic spot where the pilgrims first landed is in the middle of a roundabout at the end of Commercial Street. It is not immediately obvious but is a pleasant little park with wonderful views out to sea where you can reflect on... More

As descendants of Pilgrim John Howland we were looking for the site "in Provincetown" where a relative had told us that she had put a memorial stone. Docents at the headquarters of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in Plymouth did not know where it might have been, it was not their project. I had assumed that it was, since our... More

I am a Mayflower decendant so this place is a treat for me. Knowing my ancestors walked in these places in a thrill. The place is a humble with no frills. There are places to sit and reflect, there are bricks that were donated by people and have messages on them that are nice to read. There is a plaque... More

Hidden behind trees on a circle at the end of Commercial St this plaque to the Pilgrims' first landing spot is easily missed. Surrounded by the marsh, breakwater and Provincetown Inn and Resort, who is looking inside the circle? Once found, it takes just a few minutes to read the plaque.

Simple record of this historic event. Very well crafted large bronze image of signing of agreement on large stone monument. Also tablet listing all signatories and excerpt from actual contract. It is quite easy to miss this small memorial as visitors are more interested in the larger Pilgrims Monument and museum which are on the hill behind this venue.
