I'm into seeing creepy, haunted places. This place was okay. Very old home. Across from the home was a cemetery. What a great view. I wasn't able to see the inside of the house, due to being off season. But I would go back if I had the chance.

We arrived at the house not long before it was due to close but the ladies on duty allowed us to take a look around and gave us a little information about how the house was lived in. Usually they give visitors a more detailed tour. The most striking aspect is the darkness as the small windows let only a... More

I enjoyed bringing my two French students to this wonderfully historic house! Learning about where phrases like " sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite" came from and what an original "toaster" was and how it worked! Very cool! Entertaining commentary and some hands on activities make this a must see in the village!

You can walk through and you'll see some neat stuff and be out of there in 10-15 minutes. OR, you can engage the docents and learn a lot about life in this 1600's home and the area. We chose the latter. We learned the history, where to get the best lobster roll, groceries, etc. We had a lot of fun.... More

We enjoyed visiting the oldest house on Cape Cod. It was a rainy dreary day, and the 2 women running the tour were so knowledgeable about the history of the area and the people. My husband and son and I left with a better understanding of what life was like in the 1600's for these strong and resilient people. Don't... More

After six years of trying to get into this place, because of the limited hours, I finally made it on a very rainy Sunday afternoon. The inside is beautifully restored and there were two docents who tag-teamed a guided tour. I have to say, maybe, take some of what they say with a grain of salt. The whole experience takes... More

The Hoxie House is in beautiful condition. It has been restored and preserved in a wonderfully simple manner. Everything in the house including the floors is either original or period. They have done a great job with it. The two guides were excellent. Very personable and you can tell they enjoy sharing the memories this house has held since the... More

Two very knowledgeable guides offered a very interesting and comprehensive tour of this very important home. Don't let the impatient review from one person who seemed to think she knows it all dissuade you from taking this in. Worth the cost of admission and your time.

Very cool historical house, definitely worth the visit. They have a couple of very nice volunteers manning the house and more than willing to show you around and tell you about it. There are some very cool things, including a loom that was apparently rescued from a wood heap trash pile.

Fascinating visit into the physical and linguistic past. The two guides were extremely knowledgeable about the history of the house and the period (just years after the Pilgrims, or the 'Newcomers' as they called themselves arrived in 1620) but also could explain our linguistic development to modern American English by showing us objects: pop goes the weasel, dead as a...
