This is a great fall color tour area. There are many things to do along this valley drive. Hiking, fishing, canoeing, camping, shopping. The is also back roads to take, that are dirt and sand, and I believe allow ATV's. But you can enjoy this beautiful area on the main routes. There are several picnic areas, a couple with hiking... The East Jordan River pathway 18 mile loop. This was my fourth time to hike this trail within the past 25 years. I would rate the hike a intermediate backpacking trip. The traditional loop suggests counterclockwise from point 1 to 25. I would suggest you start from 25 and work your way down to 1 running the trail clockwise this... More

The Jordan Valley is a wondrous large area set aside for a number of recreational activities. My favorite is just biking or snowmobiling along the river or parking the car and hiking the trails. Great Morel mushroom hunting in the spring and riding the snowmobile trails in the winter.

Beautiful drive through the Jordan Valley great places for picnicking , taking pictures or just enjoying nature. Make a stop at Pinney bridge, camp at the campground there to for a rustic experience.

The Jordan River Valley is in the upper part of the Michigan mitten south of Charlevoix. We drove through the valley only on the paved roads (M 32, M66 and US 131) because it was unusually warm for the first week of March and I didn't want to get my little low clearance Malibu stuck somewhere I couldn't turn around... We drove the Jordan River Valley Scenic Drive. It was very cool, lots of great vistas. Following the Jordan River through the valley and crossing multiple times. Made it through with no problems in a Buick Rendezvous. No 4x4 required.

We hiked the 3mile day hike trail along the Jordan River Pathway. I had found the trail in a book I had purchased from the Michigan Audubon Society called 50 Hikes in Michigan. The trailhead is located just north of Alba off 131, where Deadman's Hill Road runs west to the parking lots and overlook, which is gorgeous. The hike... More

The Jordan Valley is the sole reason I relocated from a large metropolis to the pristine beauty of Northern Michigan. For all of my outdoor needs, everything in one place. A sportsmans paradise. I started backpacking as a youth in the Jordan Valley on its 18 mile trail. The Jordan River that traverses through the valley for the best brook... More

You may have to portage in a couple of spots but it is peaceful, green, and beautiful. It is known for good fly fishing but we had no luck.
