Great stop. Has high fence you can walk up to and the elk were right there feeding, and laying down. Lots of good size bulls.

We visited on a Friday night at dusk. There were several elk up and down the fence line. Several were eating and we witnessed two huge elk sparring with each other. Quite a few had huge racks, something I hadn't seen before. Parking lot is large, gravel. No bathrooms. Just viewing the elk. Free.

What you see depends on where the Elk are - but we were able to drive up real close. The antlers were impressive. Not far out of your way and worth seeing.

The elk were up close to the fence; good photo ops. We watched two bulls fight with their antlers; squealing too. Definitely worth seeing. Just park and walk along the fence line.

Even though the elk was in an enclosure it was a very cool experience not only to see them up close and personal but also to actually touch one through the fence. A lot of them are very close to the fence when we visited. A very large area also. First time seeing elk so a must stop if your... More

Friday, Sept 2, 2016 at 3:00, after eating at Gobblers one block away, four of us totally loved the “Elk Viewing Area” right behind the Elks Lodge. Elk View Park is FREE. You walk along the fence to see 70 in elk herd on 108 acres eating, lying in shade of trees, or frolicking in a large fenced area. The... More

If you are traveling in or near Gaylord, this is a great stop. The road dead-ends in a parking lot. There is a narrow, grassy strip, then a fence. Park your car, get out and walk up to the fence. The elk roam behind the large enclosure. During the hot day they might be under the trees, but they come... More

We were definitely here the right time of year to see full antlers. Not sure if it was a particularly active day or this is typical but we saw dozens of elk within 10-20 yards of the viewing areas, some even right along the fence. The males antlers were seriously impressive. For a free stop, you really couldn't beat it... More

I think we were fenced out and the elk were free to roam. Saw many elk up close. Nice way to see the difficult to find elk. You can drive almost up to the fence and walk a short distance or stay n your car and view them.
