Only 3km from the CBD, Albert Park is popular for a range of activities like dog walking, jogging, cycling, sailing and rowing. Apart from the lake itself, other attractions include ovals, playgrounds, restaurants and a 5km walking and running track. It's a pretty big area with a huge lake in the middle. Long walk round with plenty of local wildlife to see. Kids play parks, fishing options, people running / jogging, dog walking. Well worth a visit for a bit of tranquility just a short distance away from the main city.

Stopped by the Apex playground near the bowls club on the western side of the park - just great for kids around the 4-7 age group. Lots of different places to explore and thankfully for a hot summer day, lots of shade for parents watching on.

My husband wanted to see the Grand Prix track so came to visit. Started at Fitzroy Street with a coffee stop. Asked a local who recommended Fitzrovia. 155 Fitzroy St. What a find. Spacious cafe with the most delicious cakes, quiches , salads etc. Free wifi. Wandered though park, found where the start grid was for the Grand Prix and... More

Recent went in a running event at Albert park, such a busy thriving sports hub, from rowings and sailing on the lake, enjoying a walk or run around the 5km course, heading to Melbourne Sports and Aquatic centre with table tennis, great pools and basketball. Or simply take a picnic and sit my the lake and enjoy, we were lucky... More

This is a great spot, very close to the city, where you can walk, run, ride, or sit and watch everybody else doing the above! We walked around the lake on a sunny Saturday afternoon and there were a lot of others doing the same, families, singles, couples, children, elderly....all enjoying the same space. The walking tracks are very flat,... More

You see every weekend many many people exercising with their children, loved ones and pets walking round the lake or on the water. what a great peaceful atmosphere. Now it is nearly summer and there will be picnickers! There is parking and plenty of it. They have lots of wonderful charity walks round the lake. It is truly a wonderful... More

Albert park, especially in none grand prix time, is a nice relaxing walk around the lake, bring your pet pooch to join you with your walk, can be a bit chilly on cold days but the walk can be very invigorating, have done this walk on several occasions, and has always been a pleasurable stroll.

Thank willojl
