We visited this fun place with a pretty big family group. It was a fun experience, more like fish harvesting than actually fishing ...lol.... The fish pretty much jump on the hooks, so it's pretty easy to get a lot, which is great if you are with younger children or inexperienced fishers. Everything is provided, the owners are super friendly and accommodating. The cost is just the .60 per inch price which includes your equipment and cleaning the fish. The average size was around 11 inches. They wrap the fish nicely and offer styrofoam coolers and ice packs which is great if you are traveling.

We live about 7 miles from the trout farm in the summer, so we enjoy it often. Michelle and Jerry are extremely friendly owners. You can literally catch your dinner in 5 minutes. They specialize in brown and rainbow trout. Once caught, they clean the trout, and they charge by the inch. We drive right home and cook them--they are the best! If you have to travel, they sell styrofoam coolers in which to transport them. If you are a first-time fisherperson, you get a badge saying, "I caught my first trout at The Cedarbrook Trout Farm." One can also buy feed to throw in the ponds, and the surface percolates with activity. Children love to do that.

Our visiting grandkids always have a lot of fun here. The youngest ones want to ignore any limits we set, because it's so much fun catching fish so easily!
The older teens are more serious and enjoy the experience just as much. The staff will filet the fish for you to make them ready for pan-frying or whatever your favorite method.
It's a wonderful activity and helps teach city kids (and adults) about pond-to-plate fresh fish!

Right off the beaten U.S.23 path sits a very cool little attraction called Cedarbrook Trout farm.
For nearly 100 years, the same family has been growing their trout hatchery and selling trout to private lake owners.
At the farm, they allow you to fish - using a fly casting rod and some high-protein fish food, for any and all their trout. The best part is: you keep what you catch (for a price).
Trout - a hard fish to catch, grows as big as 18 inches on the farm. Once caught, they are very yummy on the grill.
If you're traveling this way, stop in! They are open 12-6 everyday between Memorial and Labor day!

We bring all our out of town guests here—all ages have a blast catching trout. The owners will clean all you can catch, and teach fish anatomy while they do! Some days, the owners can give tours of the hatchery when it is less busy. Check out the gardens, too, which are fabulous.

We stopped here today while staying at Harrisville state park for the holiday. Such a fun activity for my 6 year old, and we got to cook reasonably priced fresh fish on the campfire. The people were nice as can be. Definitely stop if you are staying in town.

Took my youngest daughter (18) and we took 9 fish for the freezer and even kept the fish livers which she loves! Very nice people! Excellent place for a guaranteed catch. Prices are excellent and the grounds are very cool to walk around and check out!! We will definitely be coming back!!

This was really fun and took about an hour or so to do the hatchery tour (just ask) and then fish. They provided the buckets, bait and poles. We brought two of our kids and got 5 fish. You buy all you catch so just don't catch more than you want ;-)
It was about $40 for 5 fish. .60 per inch They cleaned them and that was included.
Nice location!

If you are anywhere near Oscoda or Harrisville, this is a great excursion!! Our kids all had a blast and the rainbow trout look delicious. I can't wait to enjoy them for dinner! The workers do all of the cleaning and neatly package the fish and offer cooking suggestions. If your kids or you are brave, eat the fish heart!!
