A true gem in Michigan! These dunes may not be as popular as sleeping bear dunes, but they are just as beautiful, and easier to walk. What's even better is there is a lighthouse in the middle of the dunes area. The views are beautiful and if you're there early before the crowds, it's truly inspirational. It's perfect for a... I think they call it Sleeping Bear because compared to Silver Lake Sand Dunes they are so boring it puts you to sleep. This place is beautiful. You can ride/rent dune buggies/ATV/ranger and go for a fun ride. Beautiful sunsets.

The Silver Lake Sand Dunes are so cool! You can walk, drive or ride on the dunes in a scooter, a buggy, a sand rail or an awesome big truck, Some folk use a Quad, a dirt bike but you will see more Jeeps than anything! Don't miss the Jeep weekend! My favorite is the Mac Wood's Dune Rides and... More

We ride down here on road bikes in teh summer from Ludington. It's a nice 70 mile out and back with water at the state park and a break at the lighthouse.

Wasn't sure whether to visit Silver Lake Sand dunes or the sleeping bear dunes and WOW am I glad we came here. Being able to take dune buggies out on the dunes right on Lake Michigan was totally worth our visit! When out on the dunes, there were beer tents and parties going on right on the water so we... Walk out on the dunes, surf the dunes on a snow sled, or drive the dunes in your own SUV/Truck, rent an ATV or simply take a guided tour. We might be back with our own ATV's instead of our family SUV! Either way...what a blast!

We were fortunate enough to stay in a cottage on Silver Lake with a view across to the massive sand dunes. We spent two days exploring the sand dunes. Our teenagers loved climbing to the top of a dune and then jumping and rolling down, only to climb back to the top again. It was very windy when we visited.... More

We had been to Sleeping Bear Dunes so we were not sure it would be worthwhile to stop here and see more sand. Totally wrong! We may have liked these even better. So much more to see and participate in here. Dunes climb was not too difficult (with the help of some stairs) and once up, easy to walk around.... More

Silver Lake sand dunes is paradise for riding your recreation vehicles on the sand dunes. Slap a flag and a ORV sticker on your dirt bike, quad, dune buggy, or four wheel drive vehicle, air down your tires and hit the hills. You can park at the beach to enjoy Lake Michigan, or drive over the rolling hills. During holiday... More

This place is awesome -- I was looking for an interactive experience and found it here!!! There is an official entrance to climb the dunes which helped (stairs part way up so) so we were able to climb to the top of the dunes and walk all over them (the dog, too!) ..we rented and drove buggies on them, and...
