As an Art Major, and part-time artist (photography, mostly), I really have enjoyed having KIA as a creative haven in our small city. The museum is modest in size, and may not always have an exhibit that appeals to everyone, but they do a really nice job of being a place that the community can come together and share in... More

Nice rotation of art and a goregous place to visit to kill a few hours on a rainy day. While the art isnt the massive exhibits you might find in bigger cities. This is a great walking tour. Now, the promotion is a little low of the exhibits and the parking is not abundant, bring your quarters for the street.... More

The museum is small but filled with some great and interesting pieces of art. One of the security guards noticed me admiring a piece by Renee Stout and told me I could open some of the perfume/herb bottles on display. This was not only surprising but very cool. There is also a small gift shop onsite.

This is a working and school institute so much is off limits. And it's not large like a museum . There is one small gallery on the first floor and about three or four in the basement . It was interesting. Particularly enjoyed the art in the basement , modern and older . They have an elevator and ramps so... More

Visitors have said the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts is the among the finest art galleries between Chicago and Detroit. It's easily accessible in downtown Kalamazoo from Interstate Highways I-94 and US-131. The modern museum features several galleries on two levels with rotating exhibitions. The new Asian gallery features the works of contemporary artists in both traditional and experimental genres, painting... More

While the venue is not larger, the exhibits are quite nice. KIA is near downtown shops and restaurants, which can make for a fun afternoon or evening.

If you are walking around downtown, take a moment to pay a few bucks and check out the visiting and local artists showcased here. They have art classes. I haven't been but I hear they are pretty cool.

Small permanent collection and very nicely curated exhibits, often of local and regional artists. Nice gift shop as well. Attractive facility perfect for displaying art.

Attended a wedding reception here, and the galleries were all open while attendees were waiting for the bridal party to arrive. Interesting exhibits throughout. The Chihuly Glass sculpture at the entrance is really beautiful! The staff were very kind and well informed. Great info from the security person, and the event manager was very helpful at the end as we... More
