Once the center of John Jacob Astor's fur-trading business, the Robert Stuart House is now a museum. That would be fine, but you are "kindly asked" to make a donation for the privilege of going through the museum. I find that to be tacky.

You can walk through at your leisure. They only ask that you make a donation ... they have very nice displays!

Just loved strolling thru this house. Attendant was very friendly and knowledgeable. She answered all our questions, and suggested other stops for us. The home and outside area was very well maintained. Suggested you all take time to visit.

Not much different in this home compared to other colonial homes. Plan about 15 minutes to view everything.

It was our first visit to this museum and we were glad we stopped. Admittance is free will donation. They have many interesting displays that show the history of the island and how the people lived.

Very interesting history of Mackinac Island. The docent has lived on the island most of her life and has many stories about life on an island with a population of around 500 people and NO automobiles, except for a police SUV and an ambulance.

Great old building and some good displays. Enjoyed the museums and art galleries on Mackinac. There is a lot of history in this town.
