It is freaking amazingly awesome To look at the local history To know Manistee at one time had 12000 People living in the city only about 6000 Manistee was the cedar shake capital of the world It also was in the Guinness book of records...More

Visited this museum and was shown around by Ray. Extremely interesting, far exceeding expectations. They have some wonderful exhibits which must be worth a fortune. Manistee has quite a history, pity its struggling a bit now.

This museum is contained in two store fronts in downtown Manistee. I believe that I was there five years ago with my grandson. We went again this year, he did not remember it (8 then, 13 now) and enjoyed looking at everything. Lighting is poor...More

I went because I was born in Manistee and hoped to see some of its past. You really mostly get old random stuff. I did not enjoy it a whole lot. The guy explaining some of the stuff was a nice guy though.

Museum was open all year hard to find ones in feb open. Great people to guide you around. very knowledgeable , lots of things to see here . 2 floors a lot local history . only 3$ well worth it
