Moored at the shore of Lake Manistee, this huge floating museum takes you back to the turn of the last century when heavy industry made Michigan lakeside towns wealthy. The tour was narrated superbly, and the ship was truly impressive!

The tour of the S.S. City of Milwaukee was very interesting. It is a great, inexpensive historical adventure. The young man presenting was very through, knowledgeable, and friendly. Greatly preserved piece of history.

The tour takes just under an hour and begins at the top of each hour the business is open. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the ship, the duties of the people who worked on the ship and the details of all of the equipment. You are able to view two boxcars sitting on the rail tracks and see how... More

If you have any sense of adventure you need to stay the night here! It's like stepping back in time to the 1940's. The details were amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to do it again!

My husband and I checked this out while on a drive down the west coast of Michigan. It was a very interesting tour with a very knowledgeable tour guide. We also enjoyed the self-guided tour of the cutter next to this ship. Very friendly staff. One note: the tours are every hour on the hour.

What a wonderful place to stay! I had the radio room and loved it! It had 3 windows with a wonderful breeze and was quite spacious. I've stayed here many times in various rooms and they are all great in their own way. The staff is very friendly and they truly want you to enjoy your stay. The city of... More

You seldom get to tour almost all of a restored 1931, genuine, formerly-in-service, cross-lakes railroad car ferry. You start with understanding how the box cars were secured for a safe cross-lake voyage, proceed to the engine room and its two triple-expansion steam engines, up to the public rooms and restored lounge with its beautiful wood paneling, then up to the... This was an awesome tour of this great boat! I would definitely make this on your to do list while you are here. Surprisingly they offer rooms where you can stay in. It's $35 per person and you sleep where like the officers would sleep or like the assistant captains. It would be an awesome experience, I have never done... More
