The tower is very old and you are not allowed to climb it any more. The elevatred base offers good views and the surrounding garden is very nice as well. Would benefit from a bit of restoration.

You can't go up on the tower as of May 2017, but the base of the tower is still high enough to give a good vantage point of Taketomi

If you find yourself in Taketomijima you will probably pass by this monument. It is free and you can get a good view of the surrounding buildings. I couldn't find any English explanation about the history and purpose. Worth stopping to have a look but...More

If you're considering it, go to Taketomi, it is great. If you go to Taketomi, you'll pass this tower, the villiage is small so you can't miss it. You can decide if you want to climb or not. You don't get a great view, the...More

People queue up in the sun for this free attraction and clearly can t understand why. The view from above is not spectacular I d rather take pictures from the nearby first floor cafe where you get a similar sport with AC and nice juice

Well, it is worth visiting for the sheer weirdness of it. A strangely shaped and rather ugly viewing platform fit for two people at most, with super-narrow stairs, in the middle of historical Taketomi village? Why not... There is not that much to see from...More

Well on the basis the island does not have a lot to do they pull out the stops with a viewing tower! Yes the view is pretty good and gives you a good understanding of the layout of the village and Island.

Beware- the steps are VERY difficult but totally worth it. There is usually a short line, don't give up. The view is the best way to understand life on the village

This is absolutely no big deal...it's a viewing platform. There's a bar nearby with fresh, cold Blue Seal ice cream - head there.
