Out of the capital city, Seoul, if you want find the famous place with the sad history, this is the place. This is one of the UNESCO world heritages and it's worth to visit.

If you visit the fortress of Suwon which is at 30Km from Seoul, stop seeing the Hwaseong Haenggung palace. This charming small palace with dependences near the mountain is worth a stop. You can join it by bus since the train station.
