Great Lakes dunes are unique and this is a great place to explore the dune forest, open dunes and access to a beautiful sand Lake Michigan beach. The visitor center has many exhibits on the dunes. Lot of hiking trails and there is a campground (which I have never used). Our favorite and less crowded local beach.

This is one of the most poplar parks in the state, so if you want to camp - reserve early! Nothing beats sitting on the dunes at sunset or even late at night under the stars. The museum is perfect for a brief rainy day activity.

This is a great state park any time of year. The trails are used year round and pass through mature oak, beech, fir forest and rolling sand hills/dunes. Campground is a little separate from day use areas, so campers don't see the traffic from these people. Campsites are in wooded areas with lots of shade in the summer but still... More

This is one of my favorite State Parks along Lake Michigan. It is beautiful and has everything you would expect from a really nice state park.
