Marvelous and largely intact historic fortification. A must to see. Moderate walking go through all major gates for pictures. Loved it

walkung thru this magnificent fortress designed by vauban..& its quaint medieval village surrounds within is magical..watching the hues of the leaves change...the estuary the iles scattered on the horizon....an experience...the solitude ...the wind rustling the leaves ...a refrain from the past...even the bustle of town...More

A bit of history, great views of the Gironde but also restaurants, shops and a hotel. It's a big area, plenty of space to stretch little legs.
