We visit the chateau de Noirmoutier and saw a church across the street. It has beautiful interior decorations and crypt to visit. Definitely worth the stopover:)

We were walking around town and found this charming church, complete with an atmospheric small, candlelit crypt.

A plain church from the outside but interesting within. There is a brief history of St Philbert & a display of his "relics" which are a vertebra & part of a long bone. (See photo 4) At the back of the church lie the steps down to the Crypt which is worth a visit.

A beautiful and pleasant church with lots of history. The crypt under the church will be the finale of your visit. Don't miss it. Guides are in French though.

Found this place by chance and what a find! A lovely church with an open door policy.
Full of history and a crypt that was a treasure in itself. You could use one of the audio handsets to listen to the history.
I wondered if they knew what they had with people walking in and out of this beautiful building. I was impressed with the candles on offer with suggested prices and and honesty box.
It is a working church, peaceful enough for prayer and those just looking around.

If you are visiting the church don't forget to visit the crypt, which can be found at the end of the left aisle down the steps below the alter.

Came across this popular church whilst exploring the town . Well worth a visit but a shame that there were no English guides available. Make sure to visit the Crypt.

It is hard to imagine life on Noirmoutier back in the 9th c. when St. Philbert arrived to help the local population. Vikings still attacked and the body of St. Philbert had to be moved from the island. But the crypt of the old church remains and an interesting recording that tells the story. Finally, the remains of St. Philbert would end up in turns, one of the great pilgrimage churches in Burgundy.

Very well maintained church.
Wooden ceilings.
Don't miss the crypt at the bottom where the tomb of Saint Philbert is located.
