Tour #1 is a 6 1/2 hour train and riverboat tour to the Upper Tahquamenon Falls. Take a step back in time and see the falls from our private viewing area as passengers did back in 1927. See the splendor and wilderness of the Upper Peninsula aboard an authentic narrow gauge train and a spacious riverboat and hike the nature trail (5/8 of a mile) to our private access at the Upper Tahquamenon Falls and return. The Captain gives commentary throughout the river trip providing interesting information and history of the area along with pointing out any wildlife seen on the way. The trip is available mid June through the first weekend in October. Tour #2 is a 1 3/4 hour Toonerville Trolley wilderness train ride. The 24 inch narrow gauge train travels through a wilderness area with no road access. Sometimes wildlife is spotted along the way. At the end of the line we stop for 20 minutes to turn around and return. Train rides available July and August and Labor Day weekend.

We so loved this tour! 6.5 hours of beauty and relaxation. And we learned so much about the area-both nature and history-from the knowledgeable boat captain's narration. Cannot believe that we have never done this before on our annual treks to the Upper Peninsula! Only...More

Took the trolley and riverboat trip. The trolley is an old narrow gauge route through a swampy forest to the site of the riverboat landing. The riverboat trip was excellent as the captain of the boat filled my head with just about every fact about...More

We took the Toonerville Trolley and the boat to the Falls overlook. It took about 6 1/2 to 7 hours and the weather was beautiful. We only saw a Fox, a deer, few turtles, and a lot of birds. The path to the overlook is...More

Thank you for giving us 5 stars. Our family is so pleased you had an enjoyable trip. Also thanks for the good advise about footwear. This has been a very wet summer and even though we have refreshed the trail several times it is best...More

I just read Tina B's scathing review and feel sorry for her--she has a lot of anger which she chose to dump on this site. I've done this trip twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. No, this isn't Disney World , a carnival or...More

I can't tell you how much your comments mean to our family. We love the woods and the river, as if they were our own child, and are quite surprised when a few others don't share our passion. We are looking forward to your visit...More

First, a qualifer, this is only a review of the train ride. This is not a bad trip. Just be aware this is not a amusement park ride. This is a trip into a very isolated area on a slow moving, open car train. This...More

We participated in both the train and river boat ride - the trip starts with about a half-hour train ride, then a 2-hour boat ride that leads you to the falls (after a short hike). The train ride was fun (although it would be GREAT...More

We are so glad you enjoyed the tour. The problem with having cushions on the train is them being exposed to the weather all the time. They would be a soggy wet mess every time there was rain or morning dew. Having wooden seats allows...More
