This drive offers scenic views of the River, including areas where numerous swans spend the winter. Hiking, cross country skiing, and snowshoe opportunities. Pick up one of the Forest Service guides for the drive.

Nice roadway, great bypass viewing areas. Good chance for a little exercise. Lots of restrooms provided at the stops which were clean and well kept. Worth the drive.

The "sunrise-side" of Michigan has that small town, up-north feel (think Michigan's Upper Peninsula, but with a shorter drive). The towns don't offer much in the way of charm and character, like western Michigan, but the scenery along this route makes it worth it. With at least a dozen places to pull off the road and just look (or hike,... More

If you live in or around Michigan and you haven't driven this route, then now is the time! There are several turn-outs along the way that are well worth stopping at. You should see them all.

Lovely dive in any season but summer is especially nice. Places to stop including the Lumbermen's Monument and Iargo Springs, picnic areas and a boat ramp, overlooks and gorgeous scenery.

We originally set out on the tour looking for public boat launches for our Seadoo's on the ponds of the many dams on the Au Sable river. It was very educational and beautiful. Lots of stairs but all worth the trip. We did get to view the forest and hills from the water. Even more beautiful. If you ever have... More

It was raining the day that we visited. Yet still enjoyable. We will come back again on a sunnier day.

This stretch of road with all of its scenic overlooks is absolutely amazing! I would recommend stopping at every spot that you can. I believe that a state park pass is needed to visit the whirlpools so keep that in mind.

We went for a hike during our anniversary weekend getaway. We hiked to the springs and felt as if we were in a real life fairy garden! Can't wait to bring the kids back.
