The locks are awesome when you look at what it took to construct and then operate the huge gates. There are some great videos and displays that detail all of the past, present, and future plans for the Soo Locks.

Took Soo locks boat tour and was just found it so interesting that the technology for these locks was from the 1890's. It was a great way to see the locks.

There is plenty of parking on Portage Ave adjacent to the viewing platform. You can see freighters approaching the locks, so on two separate occasions we quickly parked the car and headed to the covered viewing platform. You are 20 feet from the freighters when...More

Brought my Mom up here with my sisters and stopped. Was able to watch a boat come through. Definitely neat to see. :)

This attraction is not for action packed fun! It is however, mesmerizing for those of us that enjoy engineering marvels and/or history. The schedule of ships is online and I would recommend checking it so that you are not waiting an hour for a ship...More

Like someone already stated, there is a ramp up to the second level but not all the way up to the upper level. The view from the ground is good also. One good view is if a ship is downbound in the MacArthur lock ( the closer... More
