This beach is over crowded. They offer a single outhouse for hundreds of people, often there is no toilet paper and no way to wash your hands. There is no shelter or place to change other than the outhouse, and the day I was in there someone had defecated on the floor. There is very very limited parking and I... More

I love TC. I love this beach. It's like a little secret off the beaten path. My husband keeps a screensaver of the lovely boats that are anchored there on his computer in the winter to remind him of the beauty this state has to offer in the NON-SNOW months!!! Such a wonderful place for a quiet family picnic.

Quiet sandy beach on East Grand Traverse Bay, well known to locals but generally tourist-free. On a quiet bay, sheltered from winds and waves, with buoyed swimming area, sandy bottom. Picnic tables, grills, toilets. Great for a family picnic or unwinding after an afternoon of wine touring,

A 15 minute drive north of Traverse city on 37. A very clear, sandy beach with plenty of parking. Not busy on a Friday afternoon. The restroom was OK but smelled HORRIBLE. No Fee. Would go back next time we are in the area.

The drive alone was very scenic to get to the beach. The beach itself was very nice. I liked the size of it. The water was so clear and pretty. I would definitely go back.

What a pretty little area! The water was lovely and beach didn't feel crowded or loud. Scenery was great too. Would go back in a heartbeat.

It is a pretty small beach area on the east side of the penninsula and the day we went it wasn't scorching like it had been for a few days and it was still busy. There isn't a lot of parking which was more inconvenient than anything but despite that, there was still room for more on the beach (or... More

Fantastic beach, not huge but not well-known and generally big enough to keep from feeling crowded. Decent playground equipment (swings, etc) for the young and young at heart. Good bay enclosure limits waves. Sandy bottom as far out at you can walk into East Grand Traverse Bay. Great perch fishing. A mile-ish to the historic Old Mission Store, which is... More

Short swim to the "Junk Pile" . A Ford Pinto at 27'. Lots of fish. A nice beach makes for an easy entry for a good relaxing dive.

Like others have said, this basically used to be a "locals-only" beach and mostly only those living in Old Mission knew about it. It's definitely been discovered, but we still found it less crowded than most other beaches in TC proper and very beautiful. Don't forget to drive around the area a little bit and enjoy the ride from the... More
