Grimselwelt is all around hydro power. They offer great tours underground and above with cable cars. Interesting insights into waterways etc. Housing can be in one of their hotels (Handeck and Grimsel Hospiz - very good). Excellent service !

An interesting 3 km ride into the depths of a hydroelectric power plant "Grimsel 2" and detailed explanation of how energy is generated and used, with a viewing of a large crystal cleft exposed when the tunnels were being dug. Informative tour and worth learning about all that's happening beneath the quiet surfaces of those damme-up lakes in the Grimsel... More

This is heaven on earth ,so so beautiful it is difficult to describe .Snow clad mountains in the background, lush meadows and a blue lake in the foreground... More

I visited the Grimselwelt while staying in Bern with my wife and two teenage daughters. The variety of activities is what attracted us. Thus, we took the Gelmer Funicular, hiked the Gelmer Lake, ate at the Historiches Alpine Hotel, crossed the suspension bridge, walked the Aareschlucht and visited the cheese maker...all in one day. There is much more to do... More

Since a few years, KWO, the operator of the Oberhasli / Grimsel region power plants, is offering tours of its facilities, all of which have been previously closed to the public, and that include impressive water dams built high in the swiss Alps, and the many constructions not visible from outside - the web of tunnels and the exceptional underground...
