This beautiful quiet area is perfect for hiking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, or running. Each time of year has something different to offer. Since motorized vehicles aren't allowed, your peaceful hike won't be disturbed by motorcycle or snowmobile noises. There are plenty of different trails if you want to stay all day, or short loops that allow for just... More

Marked trails take you through thick woods to little lakes that are fishable. Some decent hills to ascend and lots of squirrels and deer

Lots of trails to cross country ski or snow shoe. Trails are available for all ability levels. Have only gone there in the winter but I am sure it is a great hiking area as well in the non-winter months.

We have been to the Sand Lakes Quiet Area many times over the past several years for snowshoeing. The trails are well marked, and once you get 1-2 miles from the trail head, you have very little company. Miles of trails, rolling hills, frozen lakes, no snowmobiles...what's not to like?

I've mountain biked at various places throughout the entire United States. This trail is short, not to challenging, but scenic and enjoyable. Many people bring along a picnic basket and stop be one of the two inland lakes/ponds to enjoy the solitude along with their snack. Again this is not the Slick Rock Trail or the CAMBA but it is... Loved this place. We stayed at the Guernsey Lake State Forest Campground and hiked as much of the trails as we had time. Absolutely beautiful in late September. On the way out we literally had to turn around on the road along the Boardman River due to poor road conditions. I am not sure my small camper would have gotten... More

These trails are well marked and wind through an area of small lakes. There are several loops so you have options to go as little as two miles or up to eight miles on the long loop. There are moderate hills on all but the middle loop which has hills to challenge the most accomplished skier. The trails not groomed... More
