We only had a bit of time, but ventured around a trail that meandered through oaks, maples and aspen. Wide grassy snowmobile trail was easy hiking. As the trail narrowed along the lake, it was still relatively easy. Leaf color was past peak, but the woods were still beautiful, letting dappled light through. We stayed in the areas identified by... More

Where else in Minnesota can you see carnivorous plants, tons of wildlife, stroll along the lake, hike out to a bog and bike on the Paul Bunyan trail. Plus, the staff at the ranger station were extremely friendly providing details on our map of things we shouldn't miss and helping us prioritize our hiking choices since we were only there... More

We enjoyed a four night stay here in our trailer. We were in a non-electric site and loved the quietness of the park. The sites have quite a bit of space around them and are in the midst of large shade trees. Since we were here in September, we had no trouble getting a site, even through the weekend. The... More

We stayed there for one night after cycling the Paul Bunyan trail all the way to Crow Wing state park and back. 250 miles. The park staff were very helpful. If you havent been there before go and check out your camping site first...many of them are very open to your neighbour. Unfortunately our neighbour was inconsiderate and let their... More

We walked to the Bog Walk and then walked the board walk through the bog. This is well worth your time. Since we were last there, the plants have been labeled. Even though some were not blooming, it was fun to see what their leaves looked like. The bog walk takes you to a very shallow lake where the water... More

I bike to the state park on a regular basis. It has a nice beach and swimming area and a lot of places to eat and hang out. IT has nice walking and biking and cross country ski trails. You can start there and bike around Lake Bemidji.

The park is great for Biking, swimming, walking & hiking. The bog walk is nice but long waking distances and not good for kids and seniors. Also, the people who work there and park rangers are the worst in Minnesota. We will never go back this park again.

We were visiting friends in the area and stopped by the park to do some geocaching. Nice hiking trails, especially the bog walk. We did not camp, but the park looked very well maintained.

We enjoyed wading across the Mississippi River at the headwaters. Our dog especially since she had not been allowed in the water for a week really enjoyed it. A very interesting interpretive center crowned the visit.
