The Ames Center, formerly Burnsville Performing Arts Center, opened in January 2009. The center has two theatres, a 1,014 seat proscenium stage and an intimate 150 seat Black Box Theatre. The Lobby is two stories tall, all glass, with a sweeping view of Nicollet Commons Park, the Minnesota River Valley, and the Minneapolis Skyline. In addition to the Theatres, the center has a 2,000-square-foot art gallery, meeting rooms and a large rehearsal room. There is additional space for banquets, special events and receptions. Presentations at the Ames Center include cultural events, dramas, comedies, dance and musical acts from local arts organizations and national touring artists.

Nice setting, well maintained, plenty of dressing rooms, almost enough parking, a few restaurants within walking distance, and a pretty sitting area/plaza outside complete with a mini splash park for the little ones. The down side is that there are no hotels within walking distance....More

Was there for a dance competition and the staff was so incredibly rude. Suggested my six year old should go outside so she "wasn't in the way". Was rudely told to move while watching. Unexceptionable!! Disappointed such a beautiful place could hire such disrespectful individuals.

We went here to see the Anderson-Ponty Band (Jon Anderson of YES and Jean-Luc Ponty). It was a surprise to us that such well-known musicians would play Burnsville, but we were thrilled that they were anywhere in the Metro. We got there early, so parking...More

Great location and variety of entertainment options. Ames is a very nice alternative to going in to either of cities too.

We've attended multiple events at the center from concerts to community events. This is just what the area needs. The splash pad outside the center is definitely a focal point for families with young children.

Small venue showing great acts and plays. Free parking, full bar, no bad seats in the whole place! We have attended concerts, comedy, and plays and have not been disappointed once. The main stage and the black box theater both are intimate settings.

We were there for the Masquerade Dance Nationals. They had an actual dance room with a wooden dance floor, wall to wall mirrors and a dance bar. They also have a "Black Box". The auditorium had very comfortable roomy seats with a steeply raked floor...More
