The only aquarium in the U.S. that focuses on freshwater exhibits, this three-story waterfront structure is ready for public viewing after a year and a half and almost $34 million. Plenty of interactive exhibits and re-created habitats are fun and educational for children.

If you are expected something huge this is not the place. It's a small place that features freshwater fish and other animals mainly native to the lakes in the area. My sons love the otters the most. They enjoyed over a hour here which is...More

This is a huge building from the outside, but we found ourselves disappointed. It was more fun when the kids were toddlers as I think it is geared more towards the little kids. There are places to put on big aprons and dam up water...More

Exhibits were okay. It was good to see a lot of freshwater fish. I doubt if the acquarium would make it if the Railroad and boat rides weren't a part of the package.

Our Family of 5 went here to visit and although very interesting and great views of Superior and the lift bridge it was expensive. There are a lot of reading exhibits that were not interesting to my 7-year old but my 13 and 16 year...More

I knew going into this that this was a fresh water fish display....it was ok to fill an afternoon with a few hours of something to do. The kids' favorite part was the sturgeon tank and touching the fish as they came up to meet...More

We would not go back. For a family of 4 it was 60 to get into the place. It was our first stop of our trip. We thought our 8&9 yr old kids would enjoy. Complete opposite. All they kept asking was can we go?...More

This aquarium has a variety of fresh water fish. It is not that big and even though we took our time we were in and out in an hour. Good for a rainy day, but not a must-see.

The aquarium is laid out very nicely. A couple of sea presentations--liked them the best with the shark and colorful fish. They demonstrated how each group of fish are taught when and how to get their food--so all get the nourishment they need. Never saw...More
