History comes alive on the Lakefront line of the North Shore Scenic Railroad! During our summer season several trains a day depart the historic Duluth Union Depot for a trip through downtown Duluth, Canal Park, along the shore of Lake Superior and deep into the majestic north woods. Fully narrated tours tell the history of Duluth, the harbor, and the stories of the railroads that built northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

We came for steam locomotive weekend and enjoyed seeing the locomotive. We did the scenic train ride which was okay. Also, went thru the museum which was nicely done.

We took The Duluth Zephyr, with our two year old who loves trains and he enjoyed every minute of it. However, I would highly recommend spending the money and upgrading to first class. You get free range of the entire train front to back, drinks...More

We saw a little of the lake and a lot of trees and houses that we could have seen from the highway for a lot less money. This was part of our 20th anniversary trip and a big disappointment. Wouldn't do this again and cannot...More

Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy the train trip. We strive to make enjoyable experiences for all of our patrons, and work hard to keep our historic equipment in operating condition for riders. It sounds like the train ride aspect of the trip just might...More

I booked this excursion without telling my kids (13 & 14) as they did not remember train ride when they were much younger. They were not sure what to expect but they kept their windows open & enjoyed the scenery the whole way!! This was...More

Our ride on the train with the NSSR was just excellent. It was a perfect amount of time with young children. My great nephew was grinning was ear to ear once he heard the conductor holler All Aboard!! The narration gave folks a nice amount...More

HUGE waste of money. This is an expensive tour, and half the things don't work. No AC, no narration. 1 1/2 hr trip left over 30 mins late and took less than an hour. Most of that hour was spent turning the train around. Wish...More

This is worth the trip. We had our choice of various classic rail cars to sit in. We go over the Lester River, can see Lake Superior, the Lift Bridge, various parts of downtown and the harbor. There is a refreshment car though we did...More

A great time!!! The views were just beautiful, and the music was awesome! Our only complaint was all the smoking. While people did smoke in the open areas, it made the whole train stink. I wish that it would have been non-smoking. Otherwise, an amazing...More

What do we do when the train arrives in Two Harbors? Is there eating and shopping near train station. How do we get around 2 harbors? We are senior citizens.

I'm sorry I've not been to the two harbors station, however it's seems to me that there are shops and restaurants right at the station or stop

I recommend the Must See Duluth deal. We got the train, harbor and admission to the aquarium for $34.00.
