History comes alive on the Lakefront line of the North Shore Scenic Railroad! During our summer season several trains a day depart the historic Duluth Union Depot for a trip through downtown Duluth, Canal Park, along the shore of Lake Superior and deep into the majestic north woods. Fully narrated tours tell the history of Duluth, the harbor, and the stories of the railroads that built northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

We went with my five year old and eight adults. Everyone found something they really enjoyed about it. The story teller was awesome and we had a great time. The Train Museum was warm with decorations. What a great opportunity to enjoy the season and be warm on a cold balmy evening to boot.

We were expecting a train ride instead of basically a shuttle to the museum! We brought four of our grandchildren and the museum was boring for them. The story telling did not hold their interest and they ended up just running around the museum. Will not be doing this again!

My party of 3 took in two of your train excursions. First was the bentleyville train. There was plenty of room on the train and it was cozy inside which was great considering the subzero temp on 12/16/16. The trip is short but they had Olaf, cookies and hot chocolate in the lobby at Edgewater which was free of charge.... More

My 6 year old AND 1.5 year old kids BOTH were floored by the evening. Even the youngster, who can't sit still sat quietly and listened to the story at the Depot. If you have little ones this is a MUST in Duluth during the holiday season.

We enjoyed the Christmas experience quite a bit !!! It was fun, unique & a fair price. My favorite part was the orchestra ! The kids loved the story. The author did a great job reading. My suggestions for improvement would be: a place to wait inside just for the train just for the Christmas Express guests. A railing on... More

It was quick and easy to load and unload. The only thing I would say It would need to be marked better for where to load for the Bentlyville train

Great way to get to Bentleyville without the hassle of parking on Canal Park. My only suggestion is to dim the lights inside the train for the ride so passengers can better see outside during the trip. Loved that we could park in the Fitgers Ramp and enjoy all that is available at Fitgers before and after our trip to... More

I was looking for a Christmas holiday family experience (Grandpa, Grandma, Daughter, Son-in-law and 14 month old Granddaughter) and found the North Shore Scenic Railroad had the "Christmas City Express" trainride and story telling experience. We stayed at Fitger's Inn for the weekend and as a bonus we were able to take in Bentleyville USA also from Fitger's via the... More
