The drive up the scenic north shore is not to be missed! Especially if you're from a landlocked state like CO. The vast shore line is breathtaking.

First 4 miles of scenic drive on Duluth end are closed for construction. Detour off Hwy 61 will take you back to shoreline. Pretty drive with very little traffic now since most people just stay on Hwy 61. Very pleasant without the speeding trucks. Take...More

This is a gorgeous drive. My wife and I really enjoyed the scenic route, as we drove this today. There is water in the distance as far as you can see, rocky shores and seagulls. Beautiful and very peaceful. If you are near Duluth, put...More

Hard to keep the eyes from wandering to the scenery! Very picturesque, plenty of scenic stops along the drive, pretty well marked. Good road trip!

Easy access from Duluth. Enjoyed Two Rivers, the first town along the drive but the other towns got a little sketchier and the drive less pictureque the further you go up the coastline. We were told to be sure to stop at the pie restaurant...More

Around every turn is another look at the mysterious, majestic Great Lake Superior. Not to be missed: hiking opportunities along North Shore Drive, including those at three well-maintained State Parks. Spend some time in Duluth - walk the shoreline path from Canal Park, and shop...More

Lovely drive. The view is amazing and while, yes, there is traffic, it doesn't matter. The drive is worth it. Plan your turns, though. Pulling out to the left (cross traffic) can be annoying.

Expect the unexpected. It could be 70-80 degrees or chilly. Either way I'd pack sweatshirts, jeans, and a light jacket. Maybe a pair of shorts. Check the forecast before you leave. Hope you have a fabulous time!

There is no Door County in Minnesota. I'm an ice cream freak and really didn't find any good ones along the North Shore.

We stayed at Cliff Dweller in Tofte a few years ago. It was a quaint little find with peaceful and beautiful views.
