Trails make it easy for the casual walker to get up the dune and over to the beach. The sand is deep and it is not easy for a handicapped person to navigate. Also - there is a lot of poison ivy along the trails,...More

This is a great place to relax, enjoy the view, and even swim if you can believe that! The water is colder than most people like so I only swim there on the hottest of summer days but on those days it's perfect! The sand...More

I was ecstatic to see the fine sand at this beach but the sand can be very hot during warm days. You can't walk barefoot on it unless your walking by the water. Lots of things to do outdoors here if you don't like sun...More

We never come to Duluth and not make a stop at Park Point! So peaceful here. Great place to just bring a blanket and a good book and watch the waves come in or go for a walk along the Beach in the sand. It's...More

It was 100% worth the drive to the end of the road to see this park. We had a wonderful cold, windy day, and had the place to ourselves. You can really feel the power of the lake.

Considering most of the shoreline I have seen along the North Shore of Lake Superior is rocky, it was a surprise to see the sandy beach at park point park beach. There are natural sand dunes with a walking bridge to cross them to get...More

Staying in Canal Park area -- nice drive to the end of the road. Winter effects on the beach impressive: ice cliffs with windy waves crashing through and spray spouting between. Checked out airport "lounge" as well -- interesting photos and historical air articles.

Even though Park Point is a beach, the winter views were just as pretty. You can see a full view of Duluth. I found the most amazing ice dams on the lake where waves came crashing up to make cliffs. Very pretty view and pleasantly...More

Seeing the ice heaves and frozen formations is astounding! You walk over the sand dunes and quickly come upon beautiful blue ice - it's quite a sight to see.

Canal Park is wonderful, but, take some time to visit Park Point. The Point is but a short way from the city scene, with natural shoreline and beautiful inland sea vistas. Let your stress blow away with the lake breeze!

I was stationed at Duluth IAP in 1977. We use to go smelting at Park Point every year. Does the lake still produce smelt at Park Point?

I know they were smelting there as of 2014......but it does seem better around Lester River and other rivers up the North Shore.

To get up close you will need tickets. Check the festival website. This is a HUGE event in Duluth, so be prepared to stand on line for many things. Where the ships are, there is very little shade, so you might consider... More
