The trail center is a nice place to warm up in when you're riding snowmobile on the Taconite trail. It has a soap stone fireplace where a fire is always burning and big comfy chairs.

Huge lake, only paddled the bay at the state park, nice and calm. Even caught a few fish not trying very hard. Canoes and kayaks available at the boat ramp. Nice campgrounds.

Great hiking and paddling. Easy access to the trails and the water. The leaves were changing so it was breathtaking.

Bearhead Lake is a beautiful place to kayak or canoe. They have both for rent. The campsites are a good size, with plenty of room between them.

The natural surroundings are breathtaking here. We planned on hiking more but we had a very private cabin and spent a great deal of time enjoying the peace and isolation. While we could hear others, we could not see anyone with our van parked in...More

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon. Park staff were friendly and knowledgeable! Weather was gorgeous, about 70 degrees and sunny. We were in campsite #2. Campsite was full - lots of families, groups of fisherman, etc. Our kids, 8 & 4, enjoyed this trip immensely....More

Would give the place 5 stars but the place was very busy with campers. This is what to expect though at peak tourist season. Very beautiful park!!

Yes, dogs on leashes were everywhere when we were there; however, pets are not permitted in the cabins. So if you are staying in a camper cabin, your pet would need to sleep in your vehicle.

I'm sorry but I do not know. The Ranger at the front desk was helpful and they should know. We hiked by one of the group sites, but did not look around.
