I've been here briefly during the end of summer and the stores are cute and fun to browse around. There's a lot of good restaurants to choose from. Once fall and winter roll around, most of the stores and restaurants close so that's kind of a bummer but there are still a fair amount open. It is pretty hilly so... More

The street is a set of small and average restaurants, shops, cafes and outfitter's stores. It's nice to walk or drive and stop by in different places. Everything is very concentrated and convenient!

If you like to walk around and stop at little shops this will be paradise. Nice way to spend the day. Pretty interesting shops. The people working at the shops are all very nice and helpful.

Almost everything in Ely is on this street. Even the town park. This place is a tree huggers paradise.

Ely used to be, 20 years ago and more, a mining town that had some canoe outfitting. Canoers never felt really welcome except at the outfitters. Canoers got the blame for demotorizing the BWCA(W), and most people seemed to think that if the mines would just reopen the economy would be fine without the tourist money. The result was that... Have to come up every year to have a Bucky Burger at the Ely Steakhouse and then shop. So far my favorites are Steger Mukluks, Piragis, and Loony's (very interesting and fun rocks!). Will have to come up without husband and son so I can stay longer.....

This is a tourist town. I worked in the are in the 60's, had businesses in the areas after that until after 2000. Had the opportunity to visit in July, 2015. Interesting that a fellow from Missouri has recently purchased a number of white elephant businesses, I certainly hope that he can help the area. This is a nice day... More

Ely is, by far, the most Geocache-friendly city I have ever been to! If this is a hobby of your family, by all means, plan a trip! Fun and creative placements are everywhere. If you're not into Geocaching, the kids can still complete a citywide scavenger hunt. Pick up a game card at the visitor center.

We drove into Ely from Tower, MN and the scenic drive is absolutely fantastic. Sheridan Street is similar to main streets in a lot of "up north" towns with a lot of mom and pop shops carrying things for furnishing cabins, clothes or camping. There are also a number of restaurants. It was o.k., but nothing really made me want... More
