My husband and I have been here many times. This year we took our 3 grandkids and a visitor from Texas. All were very impressed. We always stop and pick up food for a picnic lunch. The view is amazing. Scan the view slowly so you don't miss anything. The enormous trucks look like toys. I heard a rumor that... More

Great place to visit if you are interested in mining history in Minnesota, I was amazed with how long they have been mining in this area. They have equipment trucks, tires etc. for you to see up close and get pictures with or in. You can also see the trucks hauling down in the mine pretty cool.

This is really something to see. It is huge as is the equipment used to do the mining. The gift shop is nice and there we met a volunteer, who was a former employee, that gave us many interesting facts about the mine. There is much history here. It provides many jobs to people in the area. It is well... More

We were fortunate enough to have a mine surveyor stop by while we were looking at this mine to explain what was going on. It's a fascinating process and a view into mining history.

Wish we had planned to spend more time going through the museum and tourist attraction! I only viewed the mining pit and read the history at the site and was still in awe of the site. They have a mining truck probably two stories tall available for climbing. The tires are even taller than me and I'm 6'! Worth a... More

We stopped here on a summer trip through MN. The view of the active open pit mine was fascinating. There is a building on site with a small gift shop. There was a man inside that could answer any question about the mine. They usually blast once a week and the information is called in to the gift shop so... More

We stopped here for an hour on out way south from northern Minnesota and it is definitely worth the stop. You can see the active mine on operation and visiti the field where you can look and visit a real 170 ton mine truck. Kids and adults will love it.

At 8 miles wide and 2 miles across, this mine is a very impressive site. You can see the trucks moving around and the gift shop has informative exhibits on the history of the mine. You can even climb into a 170 ton truck!

It is just a big hole, but definitely worth driving to see if you are in the area!! The little store was closed, but it's still a pretty amazing site!!
