Good for a break...an old library turned into a art gallery. It is free to enter and walk around to view the gallery. There is also a small gift shop from local artists. Alot of big items there to purchase and few smaller items. Great to shop local and support local artists.

This gallery is free! Donations accepted, but not pushed. It is located in the old Carnegie Library building in Mankato's downtown historic district. Parking is free. This gallery features the works of 4-6 or more local artists at one time. The works are usually for purchase also. The gallery changes out the exhibits about every month. The historic building is... The former Carnegie Library building has become the ideal place to view the high quality work of local artists. The talent and diversity on display are remarkable. The gift shop is filled with beautiful art objects at very affordable prices. The art openings are social events you won't want to miss.

This is my go to place for AMAZING Christmas gifts. I've lived here 5 years and just started doing this more regularly. Quality crafters exhibit their wares here, blown glass pieces, fabric art, truly beauitful things.

Changing an historic Carnegie library into an art center is a terrific idea. The Mankato site seems to be in the early stages of the transition, but it already looks like a winner. We shall return.

This small art museum had so many cool and interesting pieces. It was quiet and very beautiful to see how creative and different people can be.

I wandered through the neighborhood I'd just moved to in downtown Mankato, and there it was on a warm fall afternoon. A building full of beautiful works that show off the regional artists' skills and talents. Some of the artists I knew from town but hadn't known how skilled they were!

The Carnegie Art Center has a rich history. It was built in 1902 as one of 65 public Carnegie libraries granted by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. It was frequently visited by the author Maud Hart Lovelace when she was a child, and it was placed in the National Register of HIstoric Places in 1981. Prior to being occupied... More

In addition to the space being historical and grand, the curators of the art do a fabulous job with production. The winter artist captivated me with his love of water, the gift shop is one I return to again and again. Delightful people and great art!
