We visited this place and the Cathedral of Saint Paul in the same day. The Cathedral of Saint Paul is definitely bigger, but the Basilica of Saint Mary is very astounding in its' own right. I would definitely recommend visiting just for the architecture.

Despite me having seen many, many basilicas in my life, the Basilica of St. Mary very much impressed me - unexpectedly so! We were fortunate enough to listen to someone play the organ, which was beautiful. The art in the basilica is gorgeous, and the...More

If you appreciate the beauty of Romanesque architecture, stained glass windows, tradition of the Catholic worship, a must to include in your trip to Minneapolis. High Mass is inspirational.

We recently saw the Messiah performed here by the St Paul Chamber Orchestra. What a perfect setting for this. The cathedral is not overly massive, but has amazing detail and in beautifully balanced. We'd recently been to Notre Dame in Paris, and this seems like...More

Absolutely beautiful, couldn't find any history or real information on it. Would have enjoyed more knowing the history and maybe early pictures.

If you like big, beautiful, old cathedrals, you will definitely like this place. It rivals many of the European cathedrals in beauty, if not in size. The ministry here has always served a downtown population, and tends to be very left-wing. Easter and Christmas services...More

This is so beautiful and peaceful. Worth the visit whilst in Minneapolis about a twenty minutes walk from the leows hotel and across the road from the sculpture garden
