Mystery Cave is in a remote state park. There is a small gift shop with limited snacks, a nature center, and picnic areas. The 1 hour (.5 mile) tour starts across the Root River. There are 4 medium size rooms and 1 small room with...More

Toured both Niagara and Mystery caves in one day. Only about 30 minutes apart. Not that busy for the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. We bought our tickets online to ensure we could get on a time we wanted. Definitely wouldn't need to, can buy...More

I have a heart condition and have been to other caves. This one tops it. The walk way is paved there is minimal stairs. The air quality was great. The kids enjoyed it. The underground lake was amazing to see. They have a wonderful picnic...More

Don't get me wrong the tour was nice, the caves were neat and the state park is very pretty. However we had gone to Jewel cave in South Dakota earlier this summer so our expectations were high. For the price (close to $50 for a...More

The shortest-available cave tour was very interesting and gave us a good idea of the cave. We visited Niagara Cave before this cave, and the tour was very interesting. The tour guide was very good. This tour is handicap accessible.

For any who have taken the flashlight tour of mystery cave: did you have trouble taking photographs, with flashlights as the only light source? Or do you go through some portions of the cave that are also part of the scenic tour, that have some lights on? I want to be sure I can get some good photos!

Is the park dog friendly? / are the caves? Seems like a stupid question but I've been caving before where dogs totally could tag along and some where they definitely could not. Thanks!
