This is an amazing trail for biking, hiking, and running through typical southeastern Minnesota countryside. In Minnesota we celebrate the Driftless Zone, geology unaffected by glaciers. Nice paved bike trail over and old railroad spur flat Trail is basically straight, over woods and farmland from Rochester in through Douglas eventually stopping at Pine Island. Nice and quiet during the week with just a few bikers traveling the trail.

When visiting Rochester, I almost always go for either a long bike ride or a long walk on this well-maintained trail through the pretty Minnesota countryside. A definite favorite thing to do, and what a great recreational asset for the city.

I rode from Rochester to Pine Island on it and it was such a nice ride that I did it several times a week and loved it. A very quiet trail with Beautiful Trees and animals. Very smooth trail with lots of trees

the only CON is that there is no water on the trail, there is hand pump in Oronoco but it seems that does not work anymore.

The Douglas Trail is built on an old train track. It is mostly flat. It will take you from Rochester to Pine Island. Along the way you will see a few parks, a golf course, farms and if you are lucky, you will see cows...More
