The Minnesota State Fair is unique in its balance of city & country. Like most county and state fairs, there's plenty of great rural and agricultural exhibits - farm machinery, baby animals, animal judging and exhibitions, honey harvesting, dairy enterprise, etc. What's unusual is that the city location means there are spectacular performances of many kinds of performing arts, there's... For 12 days in late August/early September this is the place to be in Minnesota. It's an awesome place to people watch and eat all sorts of food. There are also craft exhibits, animals barns, concerts, and a midway. Something for everyone.

I look forward to the MN State Fair every year! I went three times this year. There is top entertainment, beautiful artwork, amazing crafts, beer and food galore... actually there is something for everyone! One of the best state fairs in the country.

This place has lots of stuff in forms of entertainment, food, and other. However, there are so many people here that it's extremely hard to navigate and it's not a place to go if you have tight time. You literally can't see 10ft in front of you because of the overcrowding. The best part was the famous Martha's cookies. Delicious!!... More

Thanks for visiting us - we regret that the crowds prevented you from fully enjoying your day. If you'd like to return, we recommend coming during the day on a weekday, when far fewer people attend. Some of my favorite times to visit are when it's rainy - the crowds are less, and there's still plenty to do, see and... More

First, if you haven't gone to the fair, then you should! I will say, though, that I've gone for about three years in a row and I think I'll take some time off now. I usually go during the day and there are always so many people there that it's hard to go with a larger group. The food is... More

I don't think anyone could go to the Minnesota State Fair and come away saying they didn't have a great time!!! There are so many attractions to see and participate in that you could be there all day and not see them all. The food vendors are fantastic, from the cheese curds to Sweet Martha's cookies and all the others,... More

Simply a great way to spend a day. Everything about this fair is reasonably priced and of excellent value. We parked off site at the "old ford plant" site. We spent the better part of the day eating, (drinking beer) and enjoying all the exhibits...we didn't have time for rides and we didn't see all that we wanted to see.... More

I have gone to the Minnesota State fair every year for 65 years. The weekends are very crowded. A plus for teens but for seniors not so much. Every year there is a new, crazy food on a stick. The farm exhibits are not as extensive as 30 years ago but new exhibits for hi-tech, green technology has replaced them.... More

We went to the great Minnesota get together. Took a bus easier than parking, on arrival this place is big. Only when we took the sky ride do you realise just how vast this place is. Plenty to eat at the state fair ! There is a map but we wandered around for a few hours, and were glad of... More

I don't think you can see it all in one day but you can see a lot. I enjoyed all the public displays. Lots of neat vendors. Of course, tons of fun foods to try too.
