Based on the reviews in TripAdvisor, we decided to check this out. The host, Dr. Seth Hawkins, was knowledgeable and interesting. He knows his stuff! And he will talk as long as you are interested and continue to ask questions. The museum is an eclectic collection of historic home, gilded age decorations, President Garfield info, Roseville art pottery and Slovenia... More

The Julian H. Sleeper House Museum turns the residence of a St. Paul entrepreneur and hotelier into a singular glimpse at the Gilded Era. Located in the shady Crocus Hill neighborhood of Saint Paul, the Sleeper House is a building tour not to be missed. The building accomodates the museum's vast collection, highlighting design and technogical objects of the era... More

This by far was one of the more interesting tours I have ever experienced.... Dr Hawkins was truly amazing providing a wealth of information about the history of st. Paul as well as the history and day-to-day life in this period of time....

The Julian H. Sleeper House is an unforgettable experience, with so much to see and learn. Dr. Hawkins is a wealth of information about so many things, that he makes the tour well worth the $7 admission. If you have not had the opportunity to visit this museum, I encourage you to put it on your bucket list!

The Julian Sleeper House offers an original look at the Gilded Age lifestyle. If you like "high Victorian," it's here. Eloquent host Dr. Seth Hawkins begins your visit with a real parlor chat. Yes, you may sit on the chairs or even the fainting couch. You'll learn about late 19th century architecture, design, lighting, and entertaining. The house is full... More

Dr. Hawkins and I became acquainted 40 years ago at the National Forensic Association's intercollegiate speech tournament he founded in 1971. Since that time I have visited his home a number of times. I once flew in from Hawaii where I was living just to celebrate President Garfield's birthday. More recently I flew from Florida to celebrate the 100th anniversary... More

My husband knows I love historic houses and so often will search for new experiences whenever we travel. This house was one that was new to us and unknown to many of the people we know who have lived in the Twin Cities their entire lives! I especially love the gilded age and in this house the rooms are stuffed... More

You can tell by reading from the Sleeper House Museum's website that wit & humor (love of satire) lives at the Museum. It comes across, too, on the outbound voice message when you call for reservations. But, the most fun comes when being hosted by Dr. Seth Hawkins, museum curator. This man is SO knowledgeable and such a wonderfully enjoyable... More
