We were able to hike the trail to the point with our 4 year old granddaughter who loved it - both the hike and trying to see the "shovel". It is not a handicap accessible hike. Lots of stairs.

The hike to Shovel Point begins right out the back door of the Tettegouche State Park Visitor Center. The walk is about 3/4 mile, with quite a few stairs, especially towards the end. I didn't find it to be too difficult, though. Much of the...More

This is a short way up the trail to a gorgeous view of Lake Superior. A great spot for photographers.

The trail to Shovel Point (in Tettagouche State Park) is about half a mile, but goes up and down steps a lot, so is pretty strenuous.

This is a very scenic walk, much of it on a boardwalk. Be aware that there are 350 steps involved, so it's not an easy walk. But you do get some good views.
