We visited the wildlife refuge while vacationing in Gautier. The visitor center is great with a lot of information. Staff were very helpful and told us where,we might see,an alligator and we did. Good hiking trails are available. Will go,again when we can stay longer.

We visited a nice nature center at the Mississippi Sandhill Crane National wildlife Refuge. Doreen was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. By saving the crane, one of the most endangered species, the wet savanna habitat has to be saved, affecting many plants and other animals. We...More

The Mississippi Sandhill cranes don't migrate so they are always there but they are shy. Some other cranes stop over during their migration, so checking with the staff at the preserve is a good idea. They don't do the crane... More
