I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Rowan Oak, it was such a piece of history. It is well maintained, and full of history. Do visit if in town. You won't be disappointed.

Although, I have not read many of Faulkner's works, since his home was so close to my hotel in Oxford, I felt it was worth stoppping by for a quick visit. I was correct - plus, it also only cost $5 for admission. You can...More

Interesting to see where Faulkner lived and worked, but of only average interest to me. A few interesting items in the house and grounds.

It is surreal to walk through Faulkner’s home and property and know he lived and got inspiration here. The home is modest by today’s standards and the grounds aren’t manicured but beautiful in their natural state. For the $5 fee you can wander around the...More

This is a wonderful place to visit. For 5 dollars it is most certainly worth the stop! The staff was so helpful and informative. The rooms were containing many possessions of William Faulkner and his family. The self guided tour guide was very informative. It...More

If you have any interest in writing, Faulkner's home is a must-see. It's incredibly well-preserved, and includes his studio, complete with an outline for his last book, written in ink on the walls. The grounds are well kept, and the walking tour through the house...More

The house was closed the day I visited, and even though the grounds are open, it was raining, so I skipped altogether.

Rowan Oak, the home of William Faulkner, is managed by Ole Miss. Tourists come every year for the Faulkner Conference and tour his home. Inside you will see some of his writings on the wall and outside you can enjoy the gardens and outlying structures.

My husband and I toured Rowan Oak last week and were impressed. The house is well-preserved and interesting to see. There is a small museum on the ground floor and a brief statement outside of each room. The brochure is informative. There are some outbuildings...More

I'm a huge fan of Faulkner's writing, so I was very much looking forward to the visit. The home is lovely and well worth exploring. The curator was fascinating and friendly, and had a lot of information to share, though the house exploration is self-guided....More

No, but Square Books, very close by in the center of town, has a large section of Faulkner's and other Southern authors' books.

As already stated by others, there are a number of nice eateries nearby. Of all the places I dined in the area, I enjoyed Big Bad Breakfast the most. They serve lunch as well as breakfast. The food is delicious and plentiful.
