Heading north along I-55, we made a detour to visit William Faulkner's home. The exterior is a handsome white Greek Revival style building on spacious grounds not far from the Courthouse Square; the inside is a comfortable, sparsely furnished and rather eccentric home. There are...More

Pleasant side tour of this big white house with green shuttters reveals Faulkner's quiet retreat among the woods. Two university docents are available to answer questions. Don't miss listening to his acceptance speech for the Nobel Prize (headphones in hallway). Best part? Learning that he...More

This museum is one of the best we have visited. It is the former home of William Faulkner and is exactly as it was when the author was in residence, down to the scrawled notes for his novel on the study walls and his boots...More

The Home is well conserved. The map on the wall and in the case show his Geography of his own career and body of works. Wow what a calculated life and a wild way to document such a life in map form.

A tour of the home of William Faulkner is well worth your time. I would warn those with special needs or ambulatory problems that unless someone opens the gate for you so your vehicle can pull up to the main house, it can be a...More

We had a couple of free hours on our recent visit to Oxford and I saw this place on tripadvisor so we gave it a shot. As previously stated by others, the grounds are free to tour and they ask for $5 per person to...More

Well worth the drive down. Grounds and house are stunning. You even get to see some of Faulkner's story notes scribbled on one of the walls. Don't forget to bring a little bourbon to pour out for him!

It was worth the visit. You will have the chance to step back in time and try to imagine what it must of been like to live in this era

We walked around the property and the house and the beauty of the trees amazed me. They were not open to take the inside tour, but just walking around is awesome.

gotta love a historic site that doesn't whitewash its subject. the displays of the liquor bottles is one of the best touches in this museum which makes no bones about his drinking, his egotism and his eccentricities. Even if you've never read a book by...More

No, but Square Books, very close by in the center of town, has a large section of Faulkner's and other Southern authors' books.

As already stated by others, there are a number of nice eateries nearby. Of all the places I dined in the area, I enjoyed Big Bad Breakfast the most. They serve lunch as well as breakfast. The food is delicious and plentiful.
