The Musuem is small but is very nice. The staff is there to answer any question. They have a nice selection of ranging from clothes to guns to newspaper clipping. If you are a Civil War buff you should enjoy. The musuem is free of charge.

One of the first land battles in a capsulized museum... a stop takes about one hour or less. Small inventory of artifacts.

While following Rte 66 we found the museum open and learned quite a bit about the Civil War in Missouri. The displays gave a good concise explanation of the several battles and the effects of the War on the area. The diorama was especially well done. Worth a trip if you are nearby.

We where just on a road trip and saw this museum. We stopped and it was a delightful surprise. The gentleman behind the counter was a fountain of information. He could answer all our questions and gave us info we didn't even ask about yet he wasn't a stalker that interrupted our conversation.

We love history and thought this museum might give us an insight to the history of the area. It is a small museum but has a great deal of items that are very informative. The gentleman at the desk was very good and gave us a very nice tour of the museum.

A lot of information packed into this small museum. Greeted nicely by a kind gentleman who had answers to many questions. Worth the time to learn about this town.

I knew next to nothing about Carthage's role in the Civil War. The museum's displays and a short video were quite informative.

When I travel, I like to plan my route through some small towns if I have the time. I've found that some of the best museums are tucked away in many small towns. Carthage, MO is no different. The Civil War Museum may be small, but it sure is jammed packed with facts and artifacts. The guide can tell you... More

It was smaller than expected but the tour guide knew his stuff. I learned a few things about the civil war that I'd never know before and I have been to other civil war attractions like Gettysburg! It won't take long. Drop in while in Carthage!

Thank Anita O
