Made famous by marchioness of Sevigne’s correspondence, the chateau of Grignan is the largest Renaissance palace in South-East France. Its majestic silhouette towering above the village offers magnificent panoramic views of the Drome provencale. Nowadays, collections of paintings, fine furniture and precious fabrics fill its elegant rooms.

I am not into musea and castleS, but the visit was ok! Worthwhile a visit... extra exhibition about the life of the countess was interesting enough, also with kids

Staying in Grignan the Chateau has to be seen. It offers splendid views over the surrounding countryside. The Chateaux had been extensively rebuilt from the picturesque ruin it had become. Excellently restored and with good written explanation of all the open rooms. The terrace built...More

The castle in Grignan is definitely worth visiting. Some well-restored rooms and lots of background information about the restoration of the place. Also, excellent 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside including Mont Ventoux.

Great chateau and a quaint village. The chateau also does evening concerts and dinners, I recommend travelers to enquire beforehand!

My young children were frilled to explore the grounds and many accessible rooms of this beautiful chateau with an interesting history. The views from the terraces are stunning.

Under the open evening sky inside the castle yard, we enjoyed a satiric rendition of the comedy about Don Quixote. Wonderful scenery made this a memorable evening to be recommended if you find yourself around Montélimar this summer of 2016.
