Like a castle out of a storybook, the Chateau de Grignan rises up from its surrounding village on a hill, giving it sweeping views over the surrounding countryside (which is filled with lavender fields). I didn’t have time to go inside the castle itself, even...More

It's seems odd that after 3 visits to the area over the past 10 years, including one that had us 3 nights in the village itself, we never toured the Chateau. It's worth it.

We only had 40 minutes to see the Chateau before it closed for lunch but it meant that we had it to ourselves and the guides were very attentive. The views were spectacular and the interesting history was well presented. Well worth a visit.

When friends ask to see a French castle I bring them here. The views from the terrace are magnificent and the buildings, though a work in progress with more added each year, tell some interesting history that includes even some from the 20th century. My favorite...More

Interesting chateau with period furniture and wall hangings. Beautiful views of the countryside. Steep climb through the village to reach the chateau.
