We loved this little place with its excellent bookstore and quirky displays. We were there on a day when kids were trying their hand at various printing methods, with the help of a lovely older gentleman who was completely focused on the group of students crowding around him, and an equally attentive young man working with 4 students on setting... but Were Afraid to Ask, you can discover and ask for it in this very well arranged museum. An old rotary press, several original letterpress printing machines, a paper cutter built by Massicot himself are some of the remarkable devices that you will discover there. We visited the museum and met a real old fashion typographer. Although very young, he explained many interesting facts about his profession and how it's becoming rare to find such professionals nowadays. There's only 4 left in the whole France!

We didn't visit the museum but instead spent an hour browsing in the delightful bookshop which featured some wonderful and unique books and prints from le Colophon. I purchased a light hearted cookbook that consisted of an unbound collection of recipes decorated and hand-printed with original woodblock prints. If you love books and the graphic arts you'll treasure the time... More
