You can't not see it if you visit Sidon... but it's well worth a look round. It's very atmospheric and pictursque

Must see site for a Sidon visit around 1 hour drive from Beirut. Small entrance fee. Not too much to see and not well preserved so definitely visit with a guide to get the full interesting history about the numerous empires that built them updated the castle.

This Crusaders Castle has deep roots in our Christianity, the Crusaders Built it during the campaigns to the Middle east, parts of it are destroyed due to maybe bad management. Another Part was Roman. Government and Ministry of Culture should put more effort to preserve it better and excavate the other Parts of Phoenician Sidon

A small Crusader fort constructed in 1228, had the place to myself. This relic of the past is just one small part of the many layers of history that Lebanon holds

"Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon" (Mt 15:21).

The Sidon's Sea Castle - ﻗﻠﻌﺔ ﺍﻠﺑﺤﺮ - on the port of Sidon, was built by the Crusader Knights of St John of Hospital and Jerusalem to guard the port and the city, on the islet where a temple dedicated to Melqart, a Phoenician deity, the patron deity of Tyre, once stood.
The castle still stands proudly, despite its age, the neglect of man and the total absence of the Lebanese Institutions , busy - apparently - with "other" affairs.
Roman columns, as you can see, and blocks of buildings from the old city were used for its construction.
A small minaret, still visible, was later built. It is well worth a stop: there are many cosy restaurants opposite where you can satisfy your palate as well as your eyes.

This small castle is mostly in ruins but they are very picturesque ruins. You can climb on both sides of the castle for views of the coastline.

The Crusader Sea Castle is nice enough and certainly worth visiting if you are already in Sidon, but it's not worth a special trip to the city to see this, even if you're already passing from Tyre to Beirut. We got a bit lucky as the small 'tower' was open and we were able to walk to the top (about 1 story taller than the rest), but we got kicked out by the security guard when he noticed us up there. Too bad, as it has the best views and is not dangerous to be up there.

There is no signage or any other information in the castle itself, just one sign at the entrance, and you can walk around the entire place in 15-20 minutes tops. To be honest I think this is a notable tourist attraction primarily so people can say they have been to Sidon and cross it off a list of places they have been.

This is a small castle, and easily navigable. It has a great view of Sidon, and out to sea. There really isn't much more to say.

Sidon Crusaders’ Castle was very enjoyable and there were not too many people. We were part of a small tour group and stayed around ½ hour or so as it was small. It is usually around 3$ or so to visit.

Recommended for a quick visit if you are in Sidon.
