Beautiful arts and crafts surrounded by coffee and food everywhere. You get to see the artist at work. Whether you are looking for a bag, a t-shirt, a shot glass, or huichol art, you are at the right place

Beautiful place. So colourful and unique. The beach was lovely and there’s lots of nice beach bars you can visit just down from the plaza. Plenty of colourful markets. It’s very lively there. Only thing to note is the amount of people selling stuff. I don’t tend to mind this too much but it’s quite overwhelming when you get out the taxi and people instantly come up to you. You get used to it after a little bit, but if you’re someone who gets anxious due to being approached, I’d avoid it!

I heard and read about Sayulita before our trip to Nayarit & Jalisco so it was and it is a no brainer to visit it if you are staying in Punta de Mita region as it's just about 20 minutes easy ride up north through some really nice lush tropical forests of this region - the drive is actually pretty scenic in its simplicity.
Whether I could stay in Sayuliyta for longer... probably not as it's a very busy in this part of town but whether it's worth at least a day trip or an easy lunch + stroll around town? Absolutely yes!
Colorful, plenty of small good food spots, nice and lively, the colorful lively Mexico you want to see in small town! (the local vendors sell some colorful souvenirs very characteristic for this region of Sayulita/San Francisco)
TIP: parking is fairly limited but it's a small area to walk around so be patient or walk a bit more around :)

Busy shopping and food district catering to tourists. You will see shops and vendors with all the same items but there are some items that are worth browsing such as hats and beach cover ups. Looking for inexpensive bracelets and necklaces...this is the place. Lots of ATMs, small markets with snacks and drinks. Roads are made of large stones so wear comfortable shoes if you don't like uneven surfaces.

A vibrant, colorful place to visit that is popular with tourists, but.......
The biggest issue I had with this place is the big tent that's been set up across the street from the plaza. This tented area plays loud music and seems to be running some kind of gambling operation. I've been told that it's controlled by the Mexican mafia. Avoid it and you're fine, but their obnoxious music is a big negative to the otherwise colorful plaza that's popular with all ages.

So much around this plaza. Vendors, people watching on the plaza. It's pretty much central to get to wherever you're going in town.

The plaza is very lively especially at night with breakdancers and fire exhibitors. During the days it is quieter and has many people selling things. Definitely a must do and does not take long.
