Combining interactive astronomy education with spectacular public shows and night sky viewing opportunities, the Arvin Gottlieb Planetarium continues to be one of Kansas City's greatest connections to the night sky.

Built as part of Union Station's renovations in the late 1990s, the Arvin Gottlieb Planetarium's 60-foot dome and recently upgraded state-of-the-art 4K projection system makes it one of the largest and highest resolution planetariums in the Midwest. In addition to daily public shows, Union Station offers a number of opportunities in the planetarium for groups to take advantage of including field trips, Girl and Boy Scout badge workshops, summer camps, and other educational opportunities, as well as business meetings or general facility rental options.

I know the bean bags are probably for the little kiddo's, but my fiancé and I loved them! The only improvement I can recommend is to get more of them because they are perfect for looking up at the stars. This place is very relaxing an would also be an amazing place to open up times for meditation or yoga.... More

We've seen multiple of the star tours in the Planetarium. They are always a live presenter showing the stars above Kansas City's night sky and they change every season. I came to a show here before the new projector system was installed, and it is so much better now! The stars look clear and sharp and we got to see... More

Very disappointed. Seats are very uncomfortable. Should lean back more. I ended up trying to lay down in the movie theatre chair to try to talk pressure off my neck. Show we saw was extremely boring and a total waste of time. I've been to the Adler Planetarium in Chicago. It's way better. Sorry for the bad review. Was really... More

It was hard to figure out where to buy tickets. No employees were at the Planetarium show area so had to wander around to figure out where to buy tickets. I actually called the Planetarium while standing at their entry desk. But the shows were good. Not crowded the day I went. Nothing else to see though, just the shows

We've had the opportunity to now see two shows at the planetarium and our kids really enjoyed both. Last winter we saw "Let It Snow" and will most likely return to see it again this holiday season. Last week we saw "Stargaze Kansas City" and our 7 year old son especially especially enjoyed himself. There are currently four other shows... More

This is a great educational show. Inside with comfortable chairs. Only thing I didn't like is that you have to buy tickets in separate ticket office, so plan ahead or you'll miss your show time.

We did the Stars over KC show and it was SO COOL! There are giant pillows/bean bags to lay on so you can look directly up at the ceiling (you need to be first in line for these though). I get motion sick really easily, but closing my eyes just for a second did the trick.

I should have researched this more and perhaps wouldn't have been disappointed. We went to Union Station for the express purpose of going to Science City. Once we arrived we decided to visit the planetarium. The presentation we picked was about the moon and it wasn't at all what we expected. Instead of having anything to do about space, the... More

This was very interesting and well put together. There are reclining chairs and a couple big flat couches to watch the movies. There was a lot of information presented in an easy to understand way.
