A magnificent cathedral that is renown for its mosaics is also well worth visiting for its music venues. The acoustics intensify the sounds of voices and instruments alike, and if organ music is to your taste, the basilica harbors one of the best organs ever made.

The Cathedral Basilica is an amazing structure aside from the fact that it is a place of worship. I recommend you utilize one of the guided tours that you can schedule. As you look up at the pictures, you are then told that the art is completely done in mosaic tiles!! Mind BLOWN!! From a faith-based perspective, what a labor... More

Gorgeous. Needs to be on your list of places to see. It has precious mosaics made over decades, historically was visited by Pope John Paul II. Hosts concerts too, but just seeing it is well worth it. We park on a side street for free only a half of a block away.

I'm used to Cathedrals dominating city squares & plazas in Europe & elsewhere ! But this majestic building sits in the suburbs, but for that, is no less commanding. Maybe more so , as it has no visual competition. A school mass was in session so our visit was curtailed but strongly suggest that you take the time to visit... More

I have to say that I am awestruck by this cathedral. I have been to many cathedrals in Europe, and this cathedral is every bit as good as any cathedral in Europe with all of its mosaic artwork. St. Louis is my home town, but I left there forty years ago. But, upon celebrating a Christmas with my parents while... More

Mozaics Aplenty, contemplative art, and good for mass too. We visits here evry time we get near Forest Park, sometimes for mass if it is sat or sunday. The Mosaics are world class, and many side altars and basement museum will definitely make you contemplate how small we are in this world.

Having relocated to the St Louis region in 2005, I see things from the perspective of a resident AND visitor. The Cathedral is a must see. It is breathtakingly beautiful! Every visitor I have brought here was in awe.

This is the one place I bring any visiting family! Beautiful mosaics and excellent docent tours are the reason, and most I have brought here come away feeling they have had a spiritual moment there. It is well worth an hour or two if you have the time and appreciation for cathedrals, as in the US we don't have much... More

As we walked into the cathedral, my mouth literally dropped wide open. The cathedral is enormous and the detail in everything is just amazing. In particular, I was amazed at the murals and small mosaic tiles used to create such beautiful masterpieces. This is called the new cathedral and the old cathedral is close to the Arch. We went into both... More
