Excellent Arboretum and Cemetery

Beautifully kept. Make sure you pick up a map at the office. It was easy to walk round and very pleasant under the shady trees.

This was a super stop for us on our little get away to St. Louis! The office provides different self guided tours, and you can drive around in your car and visit each grave. We saw unusual grave markers, historically interesting markers (like Clark of Lewis and Clark) and architectually amazing markers/mausoleums.

While visiting my son and his family, they decided to plan some sightseeing that they told their sons was a "Mystery tour". We were totally taken by the historical relevance of the place. Enter on West Florissant Ave. We stop at the office and got the brochure for a self-tour. We followed the "White Line" shown on the layout. It... More

See Mausoleum Row, William Clark, William Bouroughs, Sara Teasdale, Adolphus Busch and so many soldiers from both sides of the Civil War. Amazing free driving tour, pick up at front office and other free tours listed on website. A must see for historians.

We got a guided tour, and it was absolutely wonderful. It is a nice car drive through, even without a guide, but knowing the stories behind some of the stones and monuments adds much to the experience. The neighborhood itself leaves a little to be desired, but the grounds themselves are fine and safe. Feel free to get out of... More

I've been on multiple tours at this cemetery. Sometimes just with my wife, sometimes with the whole family. The guides have always been informed and entertaining, the insights into St Louis history very interesting, and the "behind the scenes" nature of some of the tours exciting. I've seen Tiffany windows from the inside of a mausoleum. I've learned the meaning... More

Bellefontaine Cemetery is the most pristine and well-maintained cemetery I've ever visited. Free guided tours are highly recommended, because there is so much history to learn and so many points of interest to visit. It's ponds, fountains, and beautiful landscaping make it seem more like a botanical garden than a cemetery. During our private tour, we were escorted into two... More

What a fascinating place! Stop by the visitor's center and pick up a map for a tour of the various people buried here or for the location of special trees. The place is gorgeous and has some incredible mausoleums and gravestones.

The master tour guide is incredibly knowledgeable, and can create a tour specific to your groups desire. An incredible amount of history and beautiful Missouri native foliage can be found. We attended the fall foliage tour a couple days ago and we are still talking about it!

This was a very unusual way to learn about the history of St. Louis. The walking tour was well conducted and interesting. One can learn a lot about an area from its cemeteries.
