If you're coming from Livingston, note that Swiggerly Rd (295) is unpaved. We decided to return to Livingston via 298 through Big Timber which is paved.
There is a short accessible trail which leads to the gorge but it doesn't have a view of the falls. The 0.7-mile E. Rim trail takes you to several views of the falls. There is 65' change in elevation. There is a vault toilet but no running water.

This is such an amazing spot! Only visited once but cannot wait to return!
Bridge to see the falls and river is 1 minute from parking, along with bathrooms. Looked like trails are numerous but we only explored the lower falls, which was unreal! About a 10 min hike/ climb down. We brought a pole and caught fish which was so cool! This is a place I’d like to spend some serious time and plan to on our next trip!

This was a very welcome and breathtaking stop on our journey. The stop was recommended by the ranch we were on route to and may have very well have driven by it. A short hike in will provide some incredible views and photo ops. If time is short cross the bridge and hike left for the most optimum view.

This place is pretty far from anything. The parking lot fits around 10 cars. There’s a bathroom right at the entrance. A couple of picnic tables where you can sit and relax. The main trail on top is very short. It has several overlooks. If you go across the bridge, there’s a dirt trail you can hike down to the falls.

Working for Directv and this was on the way to my customers house...I saw pictures on Trip Advisor and thought it was just a footbridge...I crossed the bridge, hung a left and then hiked about 6/10 of a mile to a jaw dropping location.... Thank God I decided to explore the entire location

The drive there was beautiful as well as Natural Bridge area. The actual bridge collapsed some times ago, but does not affect the beauty of the area. On the way there we saw 12 deer. Some up in the hill side & others in the crops. Easy walk with lookout points just off the road. Easy parking as well.

What a beautiful gem. Was able to enjoy without any hiking. When we got there on an October weekday at 10 am we had the place to ourselves. Drive out there was flat and beautiful vistas. After our visit we kept driving down the dirt road a few miles, saw some houses and a few cars. What it must be like to live out there. Finished the trip with delicious pizza in Big Timber. A perfect morning.

I live here so I get to see this anytime I want. It is always changing and wonderful any time of the year. In the spring, the falls are fast and powerful. In the winter, the Boulder Rivers goes completely underground and exits out the side of a cliff into a pool. Wild flowers bloom all around them.
There are two paths. One is paved and wheel chair accessible. It has places where you can observe the falls easily. The other is a short trail that takes you to a direct view of the falls. For the more adventurous, there is a 5 mile trail that takes you up to Green Mountain.

Drive straight through Big Timber for approximately 20 miles. We saw it the second week of May during runoff. We thoroughly enjoyed it. They do have some picnic tables and a bathroom.
The only thing that I wish we would have brought was bear spray. It is very rural. Bear and mountain lion habitat.

Every year, the view changes; every year, the area seems to be better cared for and more often visited. This area south of Big Timber is featured in the movies Horse Whisperer and (in the scene where the rowboat goes over the falls) The River Runs Through It. I hate to think of all the people who zoom by Big Timber on their way to join the crowds in Yellowstone Park when they could be enjoying a morning or afternoon on the Boulder River checking out the views, trails and geology. Note: it is only 30 minutes south of Big Timber on a good (except for a few stretches) paved road. You will see zillions of deer; maybe elk in spring or fall, and maybe even a bear or mountain lion. If you want to fish, this is not the spot; try the fishing access upstream at McCloud or near any of the public campgrounds farther upstream. It is instead a great place to get out and stretch your legs and learn a little geology. Most people refer to it as "the falls," but you won't see much of a falls because the supporting rock structure and natural bridge have collapsed. Instead, except in very high water, you will see the river churn downstream and disappear into a hole. If you have younger children, they will need supervision as the drop offs are steep.

Spring Creek Campground and Trout Farm is right on the road up to the Natural Bridge and is a beautiful place to camp. You can stay in a tent or RV and it sits right on the Boulder RIver. We love it there.

I have no idea whether there is a rule on this subject, but plenty of people bring dogs there.

Is there camping there? How about group picnic area?
Written 24 July 2018
No camping there. Only 2 picnic tables. They are each large (perhaps 8 people each), but the tables are not near each other

What does it cost to enter the park to be able to hike to the natural bridge?
Written 23 January 2018
Why do you refer to this area as a state park? This is federally owned public land managed by Big Timber Ranger District, Custer Gallatin National Forest, USDA.

How do I know if it’s federal land what does it say on the sign natural Bridge State Park what am I to assume there’s your answer
