This is a beautiful small lake approximately 9 miles from Bigfork. It's the lake less traveled and for good reason. It's dangerous for boating. It's very shallow in areas where you wouldn't expect it, including the middle of one portion of the lake. It's not well marked. You could ruin a prop or a drive shaft. I did both. Now... More

The National Forest campground here was closing up for the winter, but we stopped by the lakefront boat launch to enjoy the scenery and drove through the beautifully wooded campground across the street. The views are worth the drive

We stayed in a VRBO on the lake. Because it is so close to Flathead Lake (much bigger and more popular) it is more tranquil. Fishing boats, jet skis, water skiing boats are on the lake, but not so many as to make ti obtrusive. Also, Swan Lake is sheltered, so it is not as susceptible to winds and storms... More

The scenery is beautiful and the water is so clean. It was very quite the two days we went there, much quieter than flathead lake.

Great for the outdoorsy person, all the lakes int he bog fork area are terrific. Go fish, swim or just lay around the lakes and you will come away refreshed.

Best lake around - very clean, warmer than Flathead, and not to much traffic. Just keep in a secret so that it doesn't get too busy... :)

Clear water, on the cool side. Lots of fishing. Picnic area with tables and pits for grilling. State of the art restrooms. Good boat launch. Camping across the road.

We took an afternoon drive over from Bigfork. Lake was incredible with the fall colors as a back drop.

Swan Lake is different from Flathead and therefore offers a lovely change from the bigness of Flathead. San Lake is a good fishing lake, especially if you bring your own boat. A friend of ours lives on the lake and swims across it daily! It is an intimate place to spend a day or two if you have the time.
